I just don’t know how seriously to take the institutional momentum and public outrage against the president’s firing of FBI Director James Comey.

Don’t get me wrong: I think he did it to throw the FBI’s investigation into his campaign’s ties to Russian influence into chaos, and his public pronouncements to sew confusion, even amongst his own staff.

But I don’t see Republicans in Congress taking this matter seriously beyond token words of respect for Comey before pulling out talking points that deflect criticism back to Democrats. I see Trump supporters adding reinforcements to their wagon circle. “He’s a fighter!” said one Daily Caller commenter. And Democrats in Congress have only so much power. We have to rely on that One Republican Who Puts Party Above Country, apparently.

Are you kidding?

So I offer you dick jokes. <bows, doffs hat, falls over into orchestra pit>
