Last week the Supreme Court decided that affirmative action that uses race as a factor in college admissions in favor of underrepresented and historically marginalized (I.e., oppressed) racial minorities is bad. Chief Justice John Roberts advocates a “colorblind” interpretation of the Constitution that goes against the history of the document (3/5th compromise, anyone?), which in effect removes protections for minorities and favors white people. See his gutting of the Voting Rights Act for an historically damaging example that he had to slightly rein in last week because the GOP took predictable advantage of the loosening of restrictions against suppressing the Black vote
The court also ruled that discrimination against LGBTQ couples was fine if your religion hates them. It’s like the only principles the conservatives on the court hold consistently are self-serving ones. The scales fall from one’s eyes.
I kind of want to say back, “Well your continuing ability to breath is against my Faith.”
