Heh, that’s kinda my relationship with my own dad, though he’s taken more from me than I from him, and… the person I am has STILL voluntarily given him more, but I WILL do my best to protect him from other idiots, excepting idiots with whom he chooses to cohabitate,
I love my dad because it’s the law in my own twisted ideology… he’s the one who raised me and by virtue of that I owe him some degree of loyalty. I spend time with him… reluctantly because he needs that despite… oh so much. I have storis of him where he has done something exceptionally cool, but also exceptionally cold at the same time.
Unlike him, I can be cool, confident (seeming), and make the hard decisions, but without ripping off my close family, though to my own detriment.
Eh, I’m kinda like Vash the Stampede from Trigun; I have so many scars, some VERY visible, many in my psyche only to avoid “killing” anyone, but at least I can look myself in the mirror and be [mostly] okay with the person I am.
It’s tough, sometimes, being the son of a… sociopath is not the right word but it’s pretty close. Conman isn’t quite correct either, but again…
