Otherworldly Goods – Page 8
Cerberus, the canine guardian of Hades is usually rendered as huge beast with three matching heads. I chose to portray the monster with three different breeds, because it just seemed funnier this way. And it’s fun to hunt down pictures of these adorable dogs and draw them.
Alas, I have named him Cerebus, accidentally, because of that stupid aardvark. I’ll have to fix this later. Oops. I literally just noticed this while typing this post.
UPDATE: Misspelling fixed. He is now Cerberus, as he should be.
Charon with CERBERUS, who wears a customs agent uniform of navy short-sleeved button down, navy slacks, a badge, and wide brimmed hat.
CERBERUS 1: License and passport, please.
CHARON: Hi, Cerebus. It’s me, Charon.
CERBERUS 2: Speak only when questioned, please!
PANEL 2
Ceberus heads argue with each other while Charon and Fetch watch.
CERBERUS 1: Dude, we know him.
CERBERUS 2: Do we really? He could be a secret agent!
CERBERUS 3: Or a smuggler!
PANEL 3
Charon and Cerberus
CHARON: You’ll see my papers are in order. My passenger’s, too.
CERBERUS 1: Thank you.
CERBERUS 2: SILENCE! SPEAK ONLY WHEN SPOKEN TO!
CERBERUS 3: COYOTE! How many illegals you got in the hull?!
PANEL 4
Cerberus 1 speaking aside to Charon.
CERBERUS 1: I’m so sorry. Just go through.
CHARON: All good!
CERBERUS 2: What if he’s a saboteur!?
CERBERUS 3: Enemies everywhere!
Nope. He’s still Cerebus.
Argh. It’s a cache problem. I replaced the image with the correct name, but WordPress caching won’t let it go. But thank you for letting me know.
Shouldn’t the gray dog be on the right wing – I mean shoulder?
He does seem to be stage left. But in parliamentary terms, I think he’s where he should be.
Of course, I put him there to accommodate the flow of dialog. :-)
