The Stolen Child — Page 23
This page brought to you by inexplicable delays. Sorry about missing last week. I had the hardest time drawing this, and I cannot figure out why. This kind of page is usually pretty easy for me to draw, but for some reason I struggled with it. Not complaining, just baffled. Maybe it’s just lockdown fatigue. I get my second vaccination shot tomorrow, so that is hopeful news. I hope y’all are able to get vaccinated and immunized and released into the outdoors soon.
FETCH: Hello, everyone!
TARA: Fetch! There you are! About time!
FETCH: Is it? Great.
MORRIGAN: Who’s that you got with you, boy?
PANEL 2: Fetch proudly introduces a friendly Owen to Tara, who looks taken aback, and Morrigan, who grins mischievously.
FETCH: Mom, Tara - this is Owen. I brought him from the human world and left behind a changeling!
TARA: You did what?!
MORRIGAN: Ohhh, did you now? A changeling, you say. Very clever. Rather old school. I like it.
OWEN: Um, hi!
PANEL 3: Morrigan licks her chops while Molly sticks her head in the panel. Owen is shocked.
MORRIGAN: No one will miss him at home. Molly, get the pot ready!
MOLLY: Oh, yes, mum! Stew is it, mum?
OWEN: Whu-?
PANEL 4: Owen looks at Fetch with a mix of terror and anger. Tara looks on.
OWEN: You said! You would! Protect me!
FETCH: I -
TARA: You idiot.
PANEL 1: Fetch and Tara argue. Molly measures Owen in the background.
TARA: You can’t bring a bloody teenage wanker into the Otherworld!
FETCH: It was your idea!
MOLLY: Pot’s too small, mum. But a roasting pit might do.
Looks like you solved the staging well enough. Getting my second shot tomorrow, as well.
