You may be wondering if Snowdonia Hawkweed is a thing. It is! There is a brief Wikipedia entry and a bit more information here about its discovery, rediscovery, and perpetual state of endangerment due to sheep and climate change. As for its healing properties, it’s too rare to have been properly studied; but it might share health benefits of other members of the hawkweed family. No mention is made of cancer or magical cancer, of course, but according to this site it does a nice job relieving asthma, allergies, and stomach acidity. Sounds like just the thing I need.

In other cartooning news, this week I collaborated with Barry Deutsch on a political cartoon that you can see here! (Barry is also a supporter of my Patreon – hi, Barry! You can support his Patreon here.) I think it was time well worth spent. I always enjoy working with him.

PANEL ONE: Blodwen explains in a serious fashion.
BLODWEN: The ancient texts and most recent research suggest that your mother’s cancer is not just a biological problem. It’s magical.
A normal cancer I could remove, she could enter remission, and we could hope it never returns.
Your mother is a magical creature. Magic complicates any illness you get.
Any cure must address biology and magic. They’re intertwined.

PANEL 2: Fetch looks confused, Blodwen frowns regretfully.
FETCH: Is it a hex? Can we undo it?
BLODWEN: I wish.

PANEL 3: Fetch looks even more skeptical, Blodwen is seen from behind.
FETCH: Uh, no disrespect, but isn’t this your thing?
BLODWEN: Not with what I have access to.

PANEL 4: Focus on Blodwen as she explains some more.
The only known chance of a cure is said to be in the healing properties of a flower, Snowdonia Hawkweed. I don’t have it. I have never used it. If something were to go wrong, your mother could suffer a fate worse than death.

PANEL 5: Morrigan sits on a couch, showing Owen a photo album.
MORRIGAN: Here’s Fetch as a baby. Even then such a hideous little monster.

PANEL 6: Fetch turns to Blodwen.
FETCH: “Worse than death,” you say….
Blodwen: If I weren’t bound by oath to do no harm….
