What’s this? Dissension in the ranks? Discord between our heroes? A downpour while everything looks bleak? Or did the artist just feel like drawing rain? Anything is possible!

PANEL ONE: Owen and Fetch sit on the bus stop bench. Rain falls around them.
OWEN: I dunno, Fetch.
So far a giant elf-spider has tried to eat me, your mother wanted to eat me.
Then she tried to feed me — which is against one of a thousand weird rules that will get me killed if I violate them.

PANEL 2: Owen looks around, his hands on his knees. Fetch looks up, sympathetic.
OWEN: I don’t feel safe here. I should go home.
FETCH: Sure, I understand. But hear me out.

PANEL 3: Fetch lectures, Owen gets impatient.
FETCH: There is no gain without risk. Learning magic is difficult.
It’s not waving a wand and saying, “presto!” Power can only come through struggle.
If you want to wield magic, you have to be willing to put in a lot of effort.
OWEN: Sigh.

PANEL 4: Owen is frustrated. Fetch looks conciliatory.
OWEN: Okay, but when? All we’ve done is walk around and meet your friends.
FETCH: Fair. I’ve been a bad teacher. But…

PANEL 5: Focus on Owen looks very skeptical. Fetch speaks off-panel.
FETCH: Wait until we get to the Summer Court! There you will see what magic can do!
The most powerful elves and goblins are there. The king and queen are there!
It’s not this dreary Autumnal bog. You will be amazed. I promise!

PANEL 6: Fetch grimaces. Owen rolls his eyes.
OWEN: So you keep saying.
FETCH: I’m doing my best, man.
OWEN: Is that your mantra?
