This process seems to have accelerated among people who use Twitter and other social media as a means of reacting to current events. It only got worse once The President, John McCain and the usual party liners began asserting American prerogatives over the Ukraine. I honestly have no idea what the right response should be from the outside world regarding the Ukrainian revolution and Crimean independence. I worry that the rights and interests of ordinary Ukrainians and Crimeans will be overrun by both Western and Russian expansionism. But the threat of war by Putin, using Russian ethnics (who have legitimate concerns) as a pretext, is the most worrisome. On everyone’s mind should be the current … situation? morasse? clusterfuck? horror? … that is Syria. Who wants to see another civil war like that?
