MTG, as fans and detractors alike call the congressional representative from Christo-Fascistland, is a dangerous figure in American politics. If her complicity in the January 6th Coup Attempt doesn’t bring her down, she has the youth and the dedicated fringe base to stay in Congress for a long time. I don’t think she’ll ever get beyond her district, but that’s enough power to do some damage. She gets a taxpayer funded podium to demonize vulnerable people like trans kids and their parents, driving on the movement that is attacking them legislatively at the state level across the country. And she gives ‘legitimacy’ to the intimidation tactics Proud Boys brought to Drag Queen Story Times in public libraries recently. Her voice gives comfort to the homophobes and transphobes who shut down a town’s library with constant harassment of the staff for pride book displays. So yeah, drop her in a pit.
