This comic is the result of a “yes, and” writing process, much like improv comedy, but with the added refinements that come with the cartooning process. Start with an alarm going off, warning of fascism. Who answers the alarm? A superhero, of course. And what better hero than a cartoonist? Doodle Man. It carried on from there. Obviously my main inspiration was the Adam West era of Batman.

This strip also started as a reflection on how often I’ve deployed Fetch to Florida or Tennessee or some GOP-dominated state to deal with fascist policies. It’s feeling a bit like wack-a-mole.
