And so we’re off into the Underworld. That is indeed Charon, the ferryman — or death cabbie — of the River Styx found in Classical Greek mythology. He’s one of my favorite psychopomps (along with the Raven), and I have always imagined him kinda like this: a Greek cab driver who eagerly helps you load your luggage at the airport and takes you to your fate, or doom, whatever the case may be.

As for the Seelie Courts, they’re part of the Otherworld. We’ll get into more of that later, but if you’re curious, this page at The Faeriepedia is a good introduction.

PANEL 1
Fetch places a coin on the tongue protruding from the rotting skull. Charon watches.

PANEL 2
Charon doffs his cap.

SKULL: Thank you! Enjoy your trip!

PANEL 3
As he loads the luggage into the back of the boat, Charon gives Fetch a doubtful look.

CHARON: Where we headed?
FETCH: Seelie Courts. Otherworld.

PANEL 4
Charon and Fetch settle in the boat

CHARON: Otherworld? I go through Hades!
This is the River Styx, you know.
There are shorter ways to get there than this.

PANEL 5
Title appears below them as they set off down the river, luggage in the back with Fetch, Charon driving the boat.

FETCH: So I’ve heard.
CHARON: Welp. It’s your money. I’m just the driver.
