The Fair Folk have a lot of rules.

That poem is not mine, but one I have found in a few different sources. It really gives you the right sense of caution and respect one should display when visiting the Otherworld; if you are human, all the more so. After all, you might not be their friend. You might be their food.

Fetch is a native, however, but there have been some changes. Which is what the next few chapters are going to be about.

Also, I meant to post this yesterday on the appropriate day, but I had real executive function problems with everything all day. I think the holidays overwhelmed me. I had fun, though. I hope you are, too.

PANEL 1 Standing on the quay with his luggage as Charon drives away, Fetch looks at the first sign. A map divides into four unequal parts, one half labeled “Courts of Light”, the other “Courts of Dark”. Courts of Light covers Spring and Summer, Courts of Dark cover Autumn and Winter.

SIGN 1: Seelie Court
“Call us the Good People - Or Else!”

Welcome, visitor. The four courts of the Fair Folk await you.
For visiting the Courts of Light, consult a station agent.
For the Dark Courts of Autumn and Winter,
Take the crumbly stone path into the woods.

PANEL 2 The second sign is smaller with sans serif lettering like Arial or Helvetica.

SIGN 2: Before you enter, choose wisely.
Humans are strongly advised to stay away from Dark Courts,
Unless you feel like being some Goblin’s lunch.
Spring and Summer might be more welcoming,
But keep an eye on your wallet, and, if you have them, your babies.

Demons, spirits, gods, and folk from other realms
Must report to their respective embassies
For the latest protocols and proper documentation.

When in doubt, remember this little ditty:
“If you call me imp or elf
I counsel you, look well to yourself;
If you call me fairy
I'll work you great misery;
If good neighbor you call me
Then good neighbor I will be;
But if you call me seelie wight
I'll be your friend both day and night.”
