How do you convince a 13-year-old boy to join you on a magical quest? Make sure his gaming schedule is clear, I guess. Or so it goes around my house.

PANEL 1: Fetch explains and Owen is amused

FETCH: Okay, I lied. It’s not like … bending? It’s more like pulling the rug out from under a pompous jerk. Making him eat his own words. Or his shoe.

PANEL 2: Fetch puts his arm around Owen and with the other hand conjures a picture of the moon pulling at the ocean and forests rising from the earth

FETCH: But it’s not just pranks. With fae magic you connect to the energies of the earth, the sky and the moon as they push and pull on each other. There is tension, friction, pressure and release. Gravitational forces, cosmic radiation, Solar winds — all this creates a massive pool of magic and energy.
We Fae have found ways to harness this power. We can feel it surge through our blood. Through our brains, and our eyes. I can teach you how to see the inside of things — the hidden secrets and the truths buried under lies. You can learn how to cast spells of illusion, and transform matter into almost anything you need.

PANEL 3: Owen thinking while Fetch watches.

OWEN: Hm. Well. I am on my seventh play-thru of Red Dead and I’ve nearly completed all of my side missions. Cyberpunk 2077 is delayed again….

PANEL 4: Owen decisive, Fetch jubilant.

OWEN: Okay, why not?
FETCH: I doubt either of us knows what the other had talked about. So great! Let’s go!
